This is a viewing party hosted in the community space of a residence. As such, seating is limited to (40) individuals and is on a first come, first serve basis. This is an event open to all ages.

We'll start letting people in at 2:00P, and the movie will begin at 2:30P. Light snacks and drinks will be provided, though feel free to bring anything for yourself or to share. (Non-alcoholic beverages only.)

Directed and written by Joe Castel, "Nelly Queen: The Life and Times of Jose Sarria" is a 90-minute digital feature documentary examining the social, cultural and political legacy of Jose Sarria, the world's first openly gay man to run for public office. Exploring his struggles amid post WWII San Francisco through interviews, never-before-seen footage, the film will harness Jose Sarria's bold spirit to expose his tragic, valiant and inspiring story.
